This image is of the Heruka, a group of wrathful deities in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. These gods were worshipped in pre-Buddhist Tibet, in the regional folk animism and the shamanic Bön traditions.
When Padmasambhava brought Buddhism to Tibet, he was confronted by these deities. He subdued the gods with wisdom and compassion. They became enlightened and pledged allegiance to the Buddha. They are now guardians of esoteric Buddhism, and are the object of tantric visualisation meditations.
We use this image with respect.

“(Hashshashin’s) music is powerful and muscular and ranges from full on psychedelic rock-outs to fully hypnotising
drone.
Often ragged and cathartic, this is, in its own way, soul music, music that taps into a primal, tribal, part of our consciousness that we, in our too comfortable Western civilisation, rarely draw from.”
